Recovery is a complex and lengthy process that is affected by the scale of the disaster and the level of preparation and resourcing available.
The State Recovery Framework aims to establish a state level governance framework, and management and coordination of recovery responsibilities. The framework outlines a number of important arrangements in South Australia, including the transition from response to recovery, and the roles and responsibilities across government and supporting organisations in relation to recovery.
The State Recovery Framework was updated in 2025 and is reviewed every three years.
