Residents in southeast South Australia are counting the cost of a fire that burned through large areas of grazing land and the outskirts of the town of Lucindale.

The huge grass fire threatened Blackford Avenue Range, Woolumbool, Stewart Range and homes at Lucindale. About 17,000 hectares have been burned, with much of that area used as grazing land.

Local councils are working with government agencies to better understand the impact of the fire, and will help with the identification of recovery needs for those members of the community who are affected.
